Heather Wiederhorn currently provides strategic counsel and global media and affiliate support to Schering-Plough's new treatment for serious fungal infections, posaconazole.
Prior to becoming a consultant to Ritz Communications, Heather
was a vice president/account supervisor in the healthcare practice
of Ketchum Public Relations, where she managed public education
campaigns on behalf of the AstraZeneca Respiratory Franchise (Pulmicort
Turbuhaler™, Pulmicort Respules™, Rhinocort Aqua™),
Johnson & Johnson Consumer Products Company (BAND-AID® Brand),
Pharmacia Corporation (Xalatan® , ImmunoCAP™ Allergy Blood
Test) and Raptiva™, a psoriasis treatment, for Genentech.
Additionally, Heather managed all public relations activity surrounding
the global launch of Vision 2020: The Right to Sight -- an international
global initiative with the World Health Organization and almost
20 blindness prevention agencies -- designed to eliminate avoidable
blindness by the year 2020.
Heather supervised consumer outreach for key AstraZeneca Respiratory
programs, including the Breathe Easier Campaign for pediatric asthma
awareness with tennis pro Mary Joe Fernandez and Tackling Allergic
Rhinitis disease management program with Philadelphia Eagle and
allergic rhinitis patient Cecil Martin. For Johnson & Johnson
Consumer Products Company, Heather managed a campaign for proper
treatment of minor wounds on behalf of BAND-AID Brand with support
from the American College of Emergency Physicians. For Pharmacia
Corporation, Heather managed the consumer relaunch of the ImmunoCAP
Allergy Blood Test and supervised all aspects of the global Xalatan
business, including the award-winning Don’t Be Blindsided!
national glaucoma awareness program.
Heather originally joined Ketchum in 1992 and helped to represent a wide range of healthcare clients. For Merck & Co., Inc., she was instrumental in the launch of The Partnership for Prostate Health, an educational campaign designed to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms associated with prostate disease. Also for Merck, Heather publicized the FDA approval and subsequent consumer availability of Cozaar®. For Ciba Consumer Pharmaceuticals, Heather helped to launch Efidac 24® and Efidac 24® Chlorpheniramine.
Heather received a bachelor of arts degree from the State University of New York, University at Albany and a master's degree in public communications from American University. She is based in New Jersey.
