Elisabeth Ritz
Elisabeth Ritz has experience creating and directing international communications programs for both major pharmaceutical companies and public relations agencies.
Prior to founding Ritz Communications in 2003, Elisabeth was senior vice president and managing director of Healthcare at Cohn & Wolfe in Chicago, where she directed the development of communications programs for SmithKline Beecham and Hoechst Marion Roussel. Elisabeth also worked with a number of global pharmaceutical companies on behalf of Ketchum Public Relations in both Chicago and New York. Her experience includes managing public relations campaigns targeted to medical professionals, patients and the media, as well as analysts and employees.
Elisabeth has contributed her skills to programs for compounds for the prevention and treatment of central nervous system disorders, diabetes, cancer, pain and women's healthcare. In addition, she has executed communications programs for a number of professional medical associations including the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the National Headache Foundation, and the Southwest Oncology Group, a National Cancer Institute-supported cancer clinical trial cooperative group.
At Eli Lilly & Company, Elisabeth managed global communications for the oncology, endocrinology and women’s health divisions. She directed regulatory approval announcements for several Lilly drugs, managed patient and professional education programs, and supervised communications announcing the establishment of the Lilly Center for Women’s Health. She was responsible for developing strategies for global product launches, implementing international speaker training programs, planning for potential issues and crisis management. In addition, Elisabeth coordinated communications among Lilly’s global affiliates, ensuring consistent global messages for major products.
Elisabeth earned a master’s degree in corporate public relations and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. In addition, she studied broadcast journalism and television production at New York University. She is a member of several professional business, communications and marketing organizations. Elisabeth is based in Chicago.
